Why is my login coming back as invalid?

XM recently changed it's platform links around and inadvertently disabled all 3rd party players. Luckily we've updated the gadgets to handle these changes, so just make sure you have the latest version.

If you're still having problems, make sure to check your login out on the website and make sure any radio IDs attached to your account are correct.

My channel list is gone.

If your channel list is missing, double check your connection and try opening the channel flyout again. If that isn't working, re-add the gadget to the sidebar. If neither of those has worked either restart the sidebar or your machine.

I have no sound.

There is a known bug with Windows Media Player 11 and 12 (and programs that use WMP as a backend) that causes RTP streaming to stop working because it damages the WMSDKNS.XML file. Here is a workaround that should restore audio in XM Online gadget and other 3rd party XM radio programs.
  1. Close all XM radio programs and remove the XM Online gadget from the sidebar.
  2. Follow the instructions at this website: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940029
    • If you have Windows Media Player 12 or Windows 7, you need to run Windows Media Player and open a specific menu in order to ensure that the WMSDKNS.XML is properly recreated.
    • Click Start >> All Programs >> Windows Media Player.
    • Right-click in the dark blue space to the right of the "Now Playing, Library, Rip, Burn, Sync, Media Guide" category buttons.
    • Click Tools >> Options.
    • Click the Network tab. If it lists
      HTTP Browser
      RTSP None
in the "Streaming proxy settings" table then the workaround probably worked correctly.
    • Close all Windows Media Player windows.
  3. Reboot.
  4. XM audio should work again with recent XM radio programs.
This bug has been around for quite some time and has also been tracked back to Flash Player 9. In some cases, if the above instructions do not work, it may be possible to fix the problem by uninstalling Flash 9 and installing Flash 7 in it's place.

I lost my password.

Easiest way to get your password back is to get it from XM. We also have a link in the gadget login flyout.

Why do I have to pay for XM?

The gadget is free, but because we are not XM, the decision to charge for the XM Online service is not up to us. XM currently charges, regardless if you use our gadget or their player. They do provide a free trial, so if you are interesting in trying before subscribing, we suggest you give it a try, risk free.

Where are the station logos?

This was a design decision to help make the display clearer for the users of the gadget. The logos take longer to load and aren't as clear as text, so we didn't include them. They might make a return someday, though perhaps on a different platform.

Sound clicks or cuts in and out.

The clicking noise is on XM's end of the streaming. We're not sending you subliminal messages, honest!

As for sound cutting in and out, thats usually something to do with the amount of available bandwidth at your current connection. Try setting the stream quality lower if this really becomes an issue.

The gadget is coming up as an invalid package.

Keep trying it. It's an odd issue, but has thus far been resolved by trying it a few more times.

I get a "Failed to copy" error.

You'll need to go into your My Documents -> My Google Gadgets folder and delete the XM Online Radio GG file. Once this is done, you should be able to upgrade the gadget in peace.
